Registered as a not-for-profit under sub-section (1) of section 5 of Companies Act, Nepal 2006, HCIIN (Human Computer Interaction Institute of Nepal) will be focusing on utilizing interdisciplinary research and human-centered processes and technology design on work that aspires towards economic, social, and human development of low income regions of Nepal and Asia. Our short term goals are to: -Develop socially oriented technologies and devise innovative techniques for engaging new technology users -Design technologies to accommodate power differentials in communities -Factor cultural and social sensitivities in the design of new technologies and/or HCI methods -Study the intersection of HCI and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and designing for sustainability -Study the intersection of Information Communication Technologies with respect to development goals, and work closely with local, national, international for-profit and not-for-profit organizations - Involve in research works at the intersection of technology and education, health, big data, and crisis informatics. - Assist or Collaborate with students or researchers with suitable research proposal and work plans to encourage towards pursuing HCI and ICTD research [some of our inspiration comes from CHI across the borders workshop.
